Record video with the Spectacle app?

Is it possible to record video using the Spectacle app? My question is because the app shows the option to “record videos” in the settings.

Why would it not be? Works fine here. You can choose it in Spectacle’s main screen.

Do you use Wayland? Spectacle screencast recording is not available on X11.
If you do a keyboard “Meta Alt R” (the default), it should tell you the issue.

That means you are on X11 and not on Wayland

Don’t mark it as a solition please when it is not. If it actually is explain what the solution is.

From the earlier posts in this discussion, if you’re on X11, Spectacle won’t record. You have to be running Wayland.

So your two options are:

1. Switch to Wayland.
2. Use a tool other than Spectacle to record your screen.
