Reconfigure bootloader to find windows again

I have a dual boot laptop with both windows and opensuse Leap 15.5. Recently, the option to boot windows disappeared from the boot menu (unfortunately I don’t recall when, as I barely use windows – it might have happened when I upgraded from 15.4 to 15.5). I checked that the windows partitions are all there, and the bootloader option “Probe Foreign OS” is set (but apparently does not work). I tried to reinstall the bootloader by switching from “GRUB2 for EFI” to “GRUB2” and back, but nothing changed. Before I start playing with the rescue system, I wanted to ask if there is maybe some simple option that I missed.

Thanks for any help!

Windows must be shut down for Linux to be able to access its filesystems, not suspended, not hibernated. Don’t shut Windows down. Instead, reboot and select Linux before shutting down. That guarantees Windows won’t leave itself in an inaccessible state, and is more easily explained than explaining how to make Windows truly shut down.
