Recommended options for hibernation?

Hello,

I have been having random problems (that I will describe later) when trying to hibernate, so I would like if someone knows what is the best way to configure the suspend.conf

I have it with the default options I think (but tried some first)

early writeout = y
splash = n
shutdown method = platform
threads = n

The problems sometimes is that when you click on Shutdown (or the laptop button) sometimes the system freezes on the screen I was (no mouse, capslock) and there is no way to recover it (I mean, no ALT+CTRL+F1 to F12 works) no ping responds… no nothing I think.

The only thing I can do is shut it down pressing Shutdown button for 5 secs or SYSRQ+ALT+B

I would really apreciate if you give advice to try or anything…

Thank you very much,

S.

This is my pm-suspend.log

Here I have an example… when I try to hibernate sometimes the screen remains this way with a black screen and white chars:

s2disk: Snapshoting system

http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/429/img00186201101190145.jpg

Then the notebook fan start to blow air very hard and the CPU gets hot, seems like its on loop or something… and if I press any key or combinations this prints on screen:

http://img573.imageshack.us/img573/2451/img00187201101190148.jpg

The only solution is shutdown with the button or SYSRQ+ALT+B to force the reset…

Please help :frowning: I have to close everything and shutdown so not to trash my work hibernated…

S.

PD: I just realized that almost everytime this happens I have a VirtualBox running (idle) but sometimes also happens without it.

May it be that I have too much swap memory in use?
