Recent updates have installed new versions of the kernel (5.15.12-1.3.23.15-default-base, 5.15.7-1-default and 5.14.14-2-default). My firmware (HP Probook) does not play well with these new kernel versions and refuses to boot. It tries to load X, fails at dracut-initqueue then enters emergency mode. Most recent working kernel is 5.11.6-5
I have tried manually removing and resintalling the kernel with zypper, but to no avail. I assume this has something to do with registering the new kernel with the tpm. Is this correct and, if so, how do I go about it?
Update:
Just installed 5.15.12-1-default and it has booted.

While TPM is certainly a possibility, being in “emergency” mode typically means something is wrong with the initrd, and the boot process wasn’t even close to starting X. Does Ctrl-Alt-F3 ever produce a command prompt with any of the problem kernels?
I’ve read more than a few complaints about recent TW kernels “not booting”. I have a big bunch of TW installations, and haven’t had any “boot” trouble in a very long time, though getting X to start hasn’t been perfect since upgrading from Xorg 1.20.13 to 1.21.x, and not just on TW, but also other distros on 1.21.x, which makes me suspicious of multiple regressions in it.
honestly i think you have to start being honest with yourself
do you want an unstable “”"""“operational”""""""" that has the posibility to sometimes not boot because you “”""“updated”""""" it ???
you say "
Just installed 5.15.12-1-default and it has booted."
but will the next update boot ? how fking retaarded is that ?
you should try alternative operationing operational functioning systems such as windows or mac os
unless you are script kiddy and you like to get ashamed when your gf ask you to use your pc to check facebook but you goblin isnt even capable of booting up to the login screen, how fuking pathethic is that ?
you are a man in 2022 but your pc can’t boot? or sometimes it boot but sometimes no?
you dont know if your pc will boot tomorrow? how fuingk retarded is that ? technology was at a higher level in the midle age dude
Thanks for the responses. I have uninstalled those kernels, so can’t say about Ctrl-Alt-F3. The console shows a retry/timeout for some action involving dracut-initqueue which repeatedly timed out, then failed. I think that it was unable to see/find a partition. However, this is now a fading memory.
