Receipts scanning

Hi all,

I would like to scan my shopping receips and OCR them into some CSV/json format that I can process and load into a money management application (probably GnuCash).

I do have an HP Photosmart but it’s across the room so it would be too annoying to scan all the receipts. Is there a lighter, perhaps hand-scanner or a small flat-bed one that works on linux with good OCR software? Any ideeas or suggestions if what I want is even doable?

Thank you.

FWIW, there are smart phone apps that can scan receipts and some have OCR functionality. A practical solution for many I would think. Some examples…
