recalcitrant kernel install

Hello,
below is a screenshot (at the paste link) of zypper stuck on installation of kernel-desktop-3.16.2-48.1.gdcee397.
it will stay stuck like that until I hit Ctrl + C. I know this because this is the third time this kernel has tried to install in the previous week. After hitting ctrl + c there ill be an error message about a scriptlet.

However if I look in Yast the kernel that is stuck is shown as being installed. Yesterday I thought I might be able to uninstall it but something is clearly wrong as the uninstall hung. It does not show up in the list of kernels at boot time. By the by, this is an extensive list despite careful purging. Checking

I am about to do Ctrl + C now and will post the exact message I get:

if anyone has any ideas in the meantime - feel free to post,

Apologies,

Forget it. After composing the post I went back to the terminal and I had a hitherto not presented option to : ignore, abort, retry.

So I chose retry and the blasted thing installed correctly. Days of fretting, days…

I have just rebooted and all is well, the reluctant kernel is present.
