Reboot / shutdown hangs on Thinkpad Carbon X1 gen 12

Hi
I have that Notebook and a dualboot installation with Open Suse Leap 15.6 and Win11 Pro
Each time the system is going to be shutdown or reboot it hangs on the showing the Leap Logo.
It only happens when running Linux. I have no clou what causes that Problem nor what the solution could be.

Kernel: 6.4.0-150600.23.25-default
CPU: Core Ultra 7 155H

Cheers,
Poik

And what when you hit Esc to see the messages?

I see the login prompt with a blinking cursor but can’t write anything.

Welcome to openSUSE Leap …

wlan 0 “Mac Address”

localhost login:

Then it seems as if it is not going shutdown at all! At least no trace of it by any message. But its seems to have stopped running because you cannot enter any text.

I mean when I hit Esc I see all the messages going down like in a normal shutdown process. But at the end I in front of the login prompt

I had a similar issue (3 days ago?) on our Dell Latitude 5500 laptop, running 15.6 Plasma.

As usual, I chose Shutdown, screen cleared, then all the shutdown processes output their various messages.

Then the last line written was “Shutdown complete” - however, it did not “auto power off”. I waited another minute, but eventually had to press and hold the laptop’s power button for 10 seconds (that forces a power off).

So, we didn’t see a login prompt as @poik sees.

Then yesterday, I did a “'zypper -vv up” and the only update was for “dracut”. The download happened, then zypper executed the dracut process, which did its usual rebuilding.

After that, no more “auto power off” problem, so I suspect there was a glitch with the dracut process build.

Aggie pointed me to the right direction.
I installed the newest kernel from the backports and the problem is gone.
