Realtek audio drivers for 11.3?

I am wondering if there are working realtek drivers for 11.3 and where to get them? I went to realteks site but only found drivers for linux 2.6 and i dont know if they will work.

It should just work
No drivers needed to be added.

Tell us your problem!

i get sound and everything but in windows i use realteks eq presets and it sounds better then amaroks presets.

i tried setting up a custom setup with the 10 band eq for a few hours but still havnt got it to sound as good as realtek.

Forget it
The kernel driver you have is going to be your best bet. Start messing and you’ll regret it. There may be some tweaks you can do, but I’m not qualified to advise. Wait for @oldcpu to respond.
The support Realtek offer to Linux compared to Windows is miles apart.

I don’t use anything but the default in amarok and it’s just fine for me, but I don’t have great expectations or indeed needs.

alright then, its not a real big deal, i might be able to look around on the net and see if i can learn more about tuning the eq.

Thankyou!

Keep an eye on this thread, just in case some good ideas come along.
I was more or less just saying:‘Don’t fiddle’
I see all too often, sad consequences

will do.

yeah i dont fiddle anymore ive done several reinstalls of 11.2 in the past from fiddling, its not fun.

that’s the best advice.

i don’t have it installed right now, but i used to use xmms player, for
which a bunch of plugins are available that provide sophisticated audio
enhancement, and which i haven’t seen anywhere else yet. takes some
fiddling around, but eventually i was able to get the sound of my realtek
card as good as i’ve heard in other peoples’ XP machines.

Install it from Packman

We assume you already followed this anyway??

I already have packman and libdvdcss but how do i install xmms from packman?

Open a terminal and become su -
( Become su in Terminal - HowTo )

Now do this:

zypper in xmms

it just says

Loading repository data…
Reading installed packages…
‘xmms’ not found in package names. Trying capabilities.
No provider of ‘xmms’ found.
Resolving package dependencies…

Nothing to do.

looking at the content of the packman repo, i see that it’s called “xmms2”
by now. so you’ll have to install it with “zypper in xmms2” (as root).
after that i’d recommend to open the yast software manager, type “xmms”
into the search field, and look at the different plugins that are
available. i don’t remember exactly, but one or two i tried didn’t work,
while the others worked well. some produced crazy sound, while others had
very nice effects.
