Realtek 8192SE / problem with make

It’s my first Linux. (and the only one I could install. So I won’t(can’t) try with another version.)

/sbin/lspci
02:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8191SEvB Wireless LAN Controller (rev 10)

/sbin/lspci -n
02:00.0 0280: 10ec:8172 (rev 10)

I got these results.
And, I’m following this thread - Realtek RTL8191/8192SE WiFi Drivers.

I did : sudo zypper install automake make linux-kernel-headers kernel-desktop-devel kernel-syms // and now I have all the highest versions.

but I’m still getting this message…

make install
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.34-12-desktop/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [all] Error 2

What should I do now? (Make clean worked well)

I don’t know virtually anything about Linux, and I’m not comfortable with English too.
please notice my huge appreciation for all your kindnesses in advance!

try, before issuing the “make install” command, become root by issuing
an “su” and give your root password when asked…

Thanks!
I think I’ve issued that, and I just have double checked. but I got the same result as…

linux-tu3t:/home/hoseung/Desktop/rtl8192se # make install
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.34-12-desktop/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [all] Error 2

well, it kinda looks like you are missing a file…but i don’t know
how or why…

well, are you running the 2.6.34-12-desktop kernel and do you have the
headers for that kernel’s installed?

can you navigate to /lib/modules/2.6.34-12-desktop/ and see if ‘build’
exists there?

software.opensuse.org: search results for “rtl8192se”

The link above has a type-o. You should be able to download and install the firmware and the driver from here, which means you don’t have to compile anything.
Make sure to download the driver that matches your kernel.

Gnaaaah, indeed it does.

Search string should be “rtl8192se” and not “rtl8182se”, didn’t check the results as I knew there have to be matching packages (because I built them).
