Realplayer in KDE4 sound but no video. OK in KDE3

I would welcome any thoughts on this:

Realplayer video in kde4 is behaving strange. All is just fine in kde3. But in kde4 I get no errors, the video opens and plays but all I have is audio no actual video, the display just stays blacked out. The open in stand alone doesn’t open the stand alone real player either. Though real opens from the menu. I have yet to try a separate .rm file on the HD, but I suspect it will give the same result.
This issue is on my laptop.

Does this behaviour change when KDE4s desktop-effects are switched off?

Makes no difference either way. I didn’t think it would because my main box is kde4 with effects and is not giving me this issue in real player.

I’m considering an uninstall and then manual install with the installer from the real site.

You might be interested to know:

I removed the .rpm installed from the repo’s
downloaded the realplayer ver.11 .bin file from real site
installed

now it works

Interesting. You could send the rpm packager an email about that behaviour.
