when playing rmvb files, either no sound or a deformed sound with a very low frequency(simply bad bass)
I’ve no idea what’s the reason
Is this only with Real Player?
Have you tried mplayer and see how that goes?
I don’t know mplayer.
I used to use kmplayer, but it has no linux version.
thought realplayer is enough for movies.
I find that real player for linux has quite a few problems. For me, the video would often freeze up while the audio continues in the background. I just wanted to see if the problem is with the software or with the file. Trying installing mplayer through yast.
Also while you’re in yast double check I think I’ve seen Kmplayer in there. If not give smplayer a try that’s what I use.
Just type in mplayer then scroll down a bit in the pane on the right.
when I type in “mplayer”, the content below comes out empty.
How do you install this through Yast/install software?
Enable the packman repo by going to yast->addon products->community repos->packman repo.
Then relaunch the yast software installer and search for mplayer (if you’re running GNOME) or smplayer (Qt frontend for mplayer if you’re in KDE).
yeah
I installed smplayer, perfect.
since it provides no “store picture” function, I continue to install kmplayer
however, this kmplayer is not a counterpart of the popular kmplayer in windows, it only provides “recording” function, allowing you to record some mpeg or avi files , maybe taking youtube into account, but anyway still no “store picture” or “capture sound”, etc…
feels like a shrink…
There is a screenshot option in smplayer. It’s in video->screenshot. As for capturing sound, you should try using vlc to stream sound out.
I remember I installed smplayer, but the “mplayer” has no video tab that I can choose, not to mention screenshot
are you sure your mplayer has such a feature?
I see it now. right, when you installed smplayer, you of course installed mplayer. however you have to choose open files with smplayer not mplayer.
