Currently, Kaffiene is the default .mov player and I NEED Real Player to take its place.
How do I make Kaffiene give up its Kingdom so that Real Player can take the throne?
Thanks,
oldsioux

Easy.
But RealPlayer is a poor choice
smplayer would be far better IMO
Anyway to set defaults, navigate to a .mov file and right click it and select properties.
next click the small spanner icon about a third of the way down the right hand side of the box that just opened up for you.
You should see a list of players. You can move these up/down for order of pref
If RealPlayer is not there you can add it.
I can post a screen if necessary…
What is ‘smplayer’? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it.

Excellent! It worked like a charm!
Thank you.

You should have if you followed this:
Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - openSUSE Forums
Real player has to be installed manually now, so I assumed you did that.
But it’s so outdated it isn’t even funny!
Oh, that’s why… this Compaq is still running SuSE 10.2, I think. It’s old and sloooooooooooow!
I hope to upgrade it after the laptop is working correctly. :sigh:
