Hi, I followed the directions to the tee (twice) at en.opensuse.org/Installation_without_CD#Creating_a_bootable_USB_Stick_version_of_mini.iso_entirely_from_Windows
except that I use the DOS instead of Win32 directory, as my only (most recent) copy of Windows is Win98. I also tried WinImage (not 7-zip) & had the same troubles, so the troubles seem to be related to syslinux not 7-zip.
I get the “read sector error” after entering “syslinux -ma e:”. I googled for it, and some others apparently had the same trouble but I found no “resolved” discussions. I did a “thorough” scandisk to make sure it wasn’t telling me there’s some physical error on the boot sector or somesuch but the drive is perfect.
Anyone have this before?
Or is there an alternative to Syslinux (to test whether this is only happening with syslinux)?
