I had a problem getting wifi to work using 12.2 on a macbook pro, had to
install the proprietary driver in the end. With 12.3 things worked out of
the box. So apparently you have a different hardware setup on your macbook.
I suggest you add some more information about your hardware:
run ‘lspci’ as user root from the command line. In the resulting list you
should find a line starting with “Network controller…”. Post that line, it
identifies the type of wifi chip.
