Probably 
Me, I prefer to create a full system image, so I can’t very well advice
on the procedure to rebuild your way. I have done it, and I don’t like it.

The professional advice here would be “try it”. That is, do a bare bones
recovery on same or different machine. Or even try it into a VB machine.
