Re-installation of OS

Hello.
I don’t know if this is the correct place to post this question, but, oh well, here goes.
Before settling with openSUSE, I have installed and reinstalled quite a few distros: Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mint, Fedora, backwards and forwards, over and over. And all in the space of a few months!
But I now have openSUSE Gnome and I love it. And now I am wondering about openSUSE KDE. I’ll try the live CD and if I like it I’ll maybe re-install.
My question is this: will constant reinstallations wreck my Laptop? I have a Dell Inspiron 1525

No need to re-install. Just install KDE (see KDE/KDE4 - openSUSE) and have it alongside with Gnome.

Purely theoretically, frequent re-installations reduce the service life of your hard drive. But to the same extent as normal usage of your system does.

Thank you for your info.
I have to say, I tried KDE4 on live CD and it went and crashed almost immediately. Not a good advert. I think I’ll stick with Gnome.
