RDP from windows to Linux

Running Suse 11.0

Went to Remote Desktop pref and clicked ALLOW OTHER USERS TO VIEW DESKTOP, then ALLOW OTHER USERS TO CONTROL DESKTOP.

Then launched the MS RDP client and it wont connect (I can ping Linux just fine). Tried to change incoming port from 5900 to 3389. No luck

Can anyone help? What should I do or be using?

Just as a note, I went to FreeNX and tried to download the RPM installer, but the directory is empty.

I think you are confusing two different protocols. 5900 is VNC, and is not the same as RDP. To view VNC you need a Windows VNC viewer.

Hi
I use the NX from nomachine.com download the 3 rpm’s client, node and
server and install on the host and ensure your ssh port is open in the
firewall. Then download and install the windows client.

Hi
I don’t login to the web forum much… (I use nntp) better to post here
as others are able to help :slight_smile:

Can you ssh from the host ok, install a program like putty or winscp to
test all is ok.

Have a read of this thread as well;
