So, i’ve been trying to get RAW images, which in this case is .CR2 from Canon SLR to work.
I also have the following packages installed:
**raw-thumbnailer **
The program also doesn’t open the image corretly: eog AKA Image Viewer
I Uninstalled eog and tried shotwell, inside the program the image renders very well, but thumbnails keep the same. I’m just showing one .cr2 file in the screenshot, but it happens to every and each one.
Apparently yours is a question asked often, you can Google “linux .cr2 image editor” and get a number of hits.
The ubiquitous GIMP seems to be a popular choice, but many other apps are recommended by various posters.
Digikam is listed which I know is in the OSS.
Many others are listed, I assume like all other image editing software your selection might be based on usability, features and effects relevant to your use, etc.
In DigiKam, under Tools, you will find an entry, DNG Converter. That will convert the files from RAW and you will then be able to see the thumbnails. You can choose to just convert them, or you can have it keep a copy of the RAW files as well as the converted DNG files.
Or, instead, if you right-click the files in Dolphin, go to Actions=>Convert to
I recommend you choose PNG from that list (if it is in there, which it should be).
Or, when you right-click the files in Dolphin, go to Open With and you should also see DNG Converter listed there.
