Raw Devices Binding Problem

I posted to Install/Boot forum and I am not sure where shoudl I post this.

I have OpenSuse 11.0 running on Dell Latitude D620. Have 100 GB disk, that I run fdisk to create multiple devices. I have sda1, sda2, sda3, sda5, sda6. All of those are mounted to diff mount points and sda1 is my swap. I just created sda7 that is 10GB big. It is not mounted and I was trying to bind this to /dev/raw/raw1. I edited /etc/raw and run /etc/init.d/sh raw start. I get an error

bind /dev/raw/raw1 to /dev/sda7…failed

No further messages. I am puzzled why this is happening. When I look into /dev/raw the only character device I see is rawctl. I don’t see anything else.

This is the first time I am doing this on SuSE. I used to do that on RH and I noticed it is not the same.

I do not run any other OS and I do not have the disk partitioned with multiple OSs.

What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated!
