Hi
I got a problem with Ark. When I open up a Rar file it is just empty. Zip works ok.
I have unrar,rar installed
I never had this problem with 10.3
Anyone know what it is?
If you have kde3 installed as well, you can use konqueror kde3 and it should work, right click extract here
But you can install winrar under wine in kde4 to work round this issue for now

You can install rar for linux instead. You can find it in the packman repo or here (performing a search): Bone.net
I suggested that they add 7z, rar and ace support out of the box for 11.1
I don’t know if devs pay attention to the wiki. I eventually need to find the mailing lists to suggest these ideas as well.

No, what we’re saying is that you can open the .rar file with another program.
You can always compile in options for .rar support yourself.
Or even better, you can install a servicemenu for KDE that allows you to just right click on a .rar file and extract it that way.

BTW, from reading Planet KDE it looks like the KDE 4 version of Ark is being improved a great deal. The interface right now sucks frankly, and the service menus aren’t there. But the next version of Ark should be much nicer.
It’s too advanced for me to fix so I guess I have to wait then.

using Winrar under Wine instead. This KDE4 crap sux when a simple thing like this should work
