Random system hangs <1 times per day

I’ve been experiencing infrequent system hangups since I installed Leap 42.3 back in mid September, probably about 2-3 times per week when using the system for ~30 hours. I suspect it is due to the new motherboard/cpu/ram to which I upgraded, since the video card moved to my new setup, however I’m not experienced enough to understand how to isolate the issue.

The symptom is the entire display freezing, however I still have movement of my mouse. No amount of keyboard input (including ctrl+alt+f1) or any other shortcut has any effect on the freezeness. The only thing that appears to work is a powercycle. I’ve not yet been able to identify any action(s) that cause the hangups. Some occur while playing games like factorio, another occurred while trying to watch a video in vlc while playing games, others of during random web browsing.

I’ve extensively run memtest86 without finding any issues with the ram. I’ve run some cpu stressing software on Windows without issue.

I’d like to know if anybody has a similar issue, possible solutions, or suggestions on how I can better monitor to isolate the issue causing the freezes.

I’m not sure if this helps, but here’s my journalctl -p +3 output from the past week. I recall a hangup occurring within the past two days, but I didn’t keep an accurate record to know when. In case a blaring issue stand out to anyone:

System specs:

The issue continues persisting, however I’ve observed no input from the keyboard or mouse is visible on the screen after the freeze sets in. The graphics display does not die, however nothing on screen updates (such as conky).

When using the system that is about to freeze, I notice my mouse movements become stuttered. This lasts about 5-7 seconds until the mouse completely freezes.

Only a hard reset resets the computer, trying to exit Xorg or do any other keyboard shortcuts does nothing.

The system log continues to not display any data anywhere around when the freeze occurred. Latest issue occurred about 5 minutes ago, and the last log entry is from almost 2 hours ago:

I’m looking for a solution and/or advice on how to better monitor what is happening so I can detect what might be causing the issue.

I have an Ryzen 1600x with a Asus Prime x-370 Pro.
I add in the kernel command line - rcu_nocbs=0-11 (for you 0-15) and I update with last bios 4008 from Asus. 12 hours uptime with no problems.
BTW, your Bios is a little old.

Currently on the P4.60 bios, I should have mentioned that Also, running the 4.4.126-48-default kernel.

    Version: P4.60 Release Date: 03/02/2018

Thanks, I’ll try out that kernel argument.

I said that your Bios is old because in your inxi Bios was P3.20

You’re welcome.
BTW, I use TW because it has nearly the last kernel (and it seems that Ryzen still needs support).
