Random Holiday GRUB

Got mine this morning at boot up 11.1 lol!

Anybody else get one yet ?

Hi,

I saw it when booting 11.2 in virtualbox.

Looking forward to seeing it again

Regards,
Barry.

Very re-assuring to see the snow in 11.2 - especially with the propsect of having to put up with - rotfl! - our first antipodean Christmas; all that sunshine, bbq on the beach, more than anyone should have to endure…

thanks in advance for sympathy from “the north”

Hi all,

Installed 11.2 last week (totally amazing) & saw the holiday boot screen last night!

Thought I was seeing things, it certainly brought a smile though:)

First I thought that I was imaging things (???)… But I searched it and it’s funny rotfl!

I too saw it first time this morning which i rarely ever reboot so it was a pleasant surprise.

The random holidays theme screen has been around for over 10 years. In Mandrake 9.0 there was a choice to make monthly holiday displays permanent but you had to be fast to select “make permanent” at boot or it would just show every other day or so. Got it last Christmas on 11.1 but there was no “make permanent” and also didn’t get the monthly ones I was expecting like before such as “January - World nature awareness, February - Valentines, March - Spring sensations, April - Easter, May - Flower supreme, June - Schools out …”

Any way to change it back?
I dont celebrate christmas

Yay! Saw it again this morning! After almost a year.

I was just playing around in SUSE Studio with a 11.1 JeOS setup and it
came up there.

In 11.1 the config file is /etc/bootsplash/themes/openSUSE/cdrom/gfxboot.cfg

Haven’t checked 11.2 yet.

got it this afternoon, i was reading about it and when i saw it i was pretty happy.

I saw it yesterday afternoon, I love the animated pinguins

Definitely in 11.2, my first boot since early in the week was rewarded with the theme.

I have BIOS space invader file, I got from source forge that can be added to GRUB boot prompt. There’s probably quite a few boot-time diversions about if you look.
