Random connection loss RTL8188CE

I don’t know if my problem is in fact the same with the other thread.
RTL8188CE / RTL8192CE confusion & loss of connection
Similarly my internet on my laptop thinkpad E420 lost connection randomly. Sometimes it works one hour without problem. Sometimes it dies immediately after boot. Sometimes the connection is not lost but my ping to gateway could be 30000ms. When this happens I feel my router is also messed up coz my other devices (wifi) at home have connection problems too by that time. I then need to restart the router. I hope this is coincidence coz I’m really not sure if it was interfering my router.

The dual booted windows have no connection problem. My other portable opensuse has no problem running on my laptop, but I don’t use it on my laptop too much honestly.

My guess is that it’s the ATI graphic driver conflicting with the wireless connection, because that’s pretty much the only difference between the suse installed on my laptop and the one installed on my portable drive, as the suse installed on my portable drive has no graphic drivers installed.

I’m still a noob, so if you have any instruction please be a little clear. Thanks.

A number of people have made similar complaints; however, I have been unable to
duplicate them. As a result, I am unable to fix them. I don’t know if the
problem is a bad interaction with the AP’s firmware, or what it is. In any case,
without knowing the version of openSUSE (note spelling) that you have installed,
it is extremely difficult to help you. If you really have SuSE, then you are in
the wrong forum.

My system runs openSUSE 12.3 with a KDE desktop and I use NetworkManager. My APs
are Netgear, Linksys, and OpenWRT on Linksys hardware.

I have made a lot of changes in rtl8192ce that are only available in kernel
3.10. You will get that kernel when you update to openSUSE 13.1 or you can
switch to the Kernel of the Day.

It is openSUSE 12.3 ofc. It is also listed in my signature. I use NetworkManager too. How do I update to the kernel of the Day?

I use NNTP and when I reply to a message, your signature is gone. Humor me and
several others and always include the version and desktop in the body.

Did you try using “kernel of the day” in Google? It is the first search item found.

OK. Will give it a try. Thanks.
