Ram usage

I started using openSUSE 11.0 like 2 weeks ago and im still a bit new to this OS.

My question is:
¿Is it ok for openSUSE to be using 1.8 gb of ram leaving me only with 200 or 300 mb’s ??
This is only being on desktop chatting through msn

Yes, this normal and a FAQ. Linux puts all memory to use. Free memory is wasted memory. Better to leave whatever was in the buffer or cache in case it’s needed again. If memory is needed, then the least useful buffer is reclaimed.
