I am in process of upgrading my mediaPC to 11.2 from 11.1.
This has a Gigabyte MA785G-UD3H mobo, AMD 785 chipset.
Although Proprietary Catalyst 9.10 worked fine (under 11.1), I am trying the new opensource radeonhd driver first.
I downloaded the latest build from OBS http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/jobermayr/openSUSE_11.2/x86_64/xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd-1.3.0_20091112-2.1.x86_64.rpm
System came up well, with noticeable speed improvements.
Audio working fine (using SPDIF interface, did not try HDMI audio yet).
One challenge - the driver appears to “overscan” the display - am only getting half the toolbar across the bottom of the screen, enough to navigate but not correct.
The amdcccle utility that loaded with fglrx provided a display size tweak that perfectly matched the driver and the display system. Is there an equivalent or similar tweaker for radeonhd?
Also, I note that YAST no longer has a hardware-display setup. I have been using sax2 from a console; I presume this is the preferred method now?
