Radeon Xpress 200

Guys,
I want to install driver for Radeon Xpress 200 from .run file. I chmoded it and run it, and this is what I get:

==================================================
 ATI Technologies Linux Driver Installer/Packager
==================================================
which: no XFree86 in (/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/sbin:/root/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/games:/usr/lib/mit/bin)

Error: ./default_policy.sh does not support version
default:v2:i686:lib::none:3.7.10-1.1-default; make sure that the version is being
correctly set by --iscurrentdistro

Removing temporary directory: fglrx-install.HEzvcf

Is it possible to install it somehow?
You can find my system configuration data in my signature!

which .run file ?

It’s Radeon Xpress Driver for linux. I downloaded it from manufacturors website. It’s packed in .run file.

Is it so difficult to give the full name? Why only the last four characters, which aren’t saying anything (but that the the person who gave the name thinks that it could be something to “run”, maybe).

Simply copy/paste the prompt, the command the output (that is the only part we got) and the next prompt. That will give is much more information

It’s
ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run

Wait… I’ll give you entire output…

OK, here it is!

linux-ecs3:/home/aid/Downloads # chmod 755 ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run
linux-ecs3:/home/aid/Downloads # ./ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run
Created directory fglrx-install.jNo6nx

You can only use the build-in driver:
Hardware - cchtml.com

The Card is to old.

Yeah I know it’s old, but since there is a driver available on manufacturor’s website, I was hoping that it is possible to install it…

I searched for a package in the OSS and non_OSS repos (of 12.2) that have a file named XFree86, but found none. I think with the move to Xorg most xf86 names thatstill exist are only leftovers. Your product must be a bit outdated IMHO.

I believe that (and most radeon drivers) are not compatible with the current version of X. I believe for the newer AMD hardware devices AMD will provide a more up to date driver, but I doubt that they will for the X200.

Ok guys, thanks for your assistance.
