Ok I’m just wanting to know (possibly stupid question). Does anyone know if whether or not A Wireless N Router will be compatible with OpenSuSE 11.0 or 11.1. I’m asking because I’m thinking of getting one so that I can setup Wireless Internet in my home.
If so would I need drivers or what? can I find them and install them easy or do I need to go through a Procedure? Any info would be greatly appreciated so that I don’t either waste my time or money.
I’m thinking of getting a Linksys Wireless N Router
I thought I saw (the user) oldcpu post somewhere he had it working… but I can’t find the post so I might have imagined it…
Closest thing I could find was Planning for new laptop - Page 6 - openSUSE Forums … so at least he was interested in it. So you might wanna send him a PM for more info… or wait for him to post as he’s a rather active poster
Hmmm this is great but it doesn’t answer what I want to know. Because I have the Router (Linksys Wireless N Broadband Router). I now I want to get it setup so that I can get my Wireless stuff connected to the net (and also a future Notebook) with Linux. :\
The router runs its own software, and is independent of whatever operating system you are running on a laptop.
The important issue is the wireless card on the laptop. 802.11n cards may not yet be supported - you have to check whether the card you want to buy is supported. But since 802.11n (draft) should be backward compatible with 802.11b/g, you can just use an older supported card.
