hi.
(opensuse 11.1 gnome) i’ve got a couple of questions on the slab menu.
why is the ‘Applications’ tab always kind of ‘active/selected’? even if the ‘Places’ or ‘Documents’ tabs are active, ‘Applications’ tab appears selected anyway. (i’ve noticed the same thing with slab on ubuntu). is it possible to change this? http://images45.fotki.com/v1425/photos/1/1364957/7170389/selected-vi.png
i’ve installed Web Downloader for X (d4x). its icon is not shown neither in recent applications, nor in the application browser, however it appears in tray when d4x is launched. how can i make the d4x icon to be shown in the applications browser? can i add it manually anywhere where it is supposed to be? http://images46.fotki.com/v1441/photos/1/1364957/7170389/d4x_icon-vi.png
when i start opensuse, the ‘Network’ icon is periodically replaced with another one with an interrogation mark, however i can’t see any problem with network connections. and periodically the icon is like on the screenshot.
is it possible to force it to show the same icon all the time? http://images44.fotki.com/v1407/photos/1/1364957/7170389/ntwk_icon-vi.png
i know these are not the worst things that can happen. but all these seem to be little but unpleasant bugs for such a good system
how can i completely remove the ‘Documents’ tab from the menu, since i don’t need it at all. (i have already disabled showing ‘recent documents’ in it).
is it possible to configure the application browser so that it wouldn’t close after an application is launched?
i haven’t found any option in this regard in GConf editor can anyone help?
(i’ve searched through the forum, but haven’t found any information in previous posts as well)
install alacarte for editing menus. then - ‘main menu’, find d4x (or any other app the icon of which is not shown in the application browser) - right click - properties - manually show path to the icon (or it is also possible to add the icon in /usr/share/pixmaps/ )
in case of gxneur it required copying the icon into both ‘/usr/share/pixmaps/’ and ‘/usr/share/icons/’. maybe copying to ‘/usr/share/icons/’ folder could be sufficient for gxneur. i dont know yet.
i post this for other newbies like me in case they have the same problem.
no, unfortunately i havent resolved the 1st issue. however, i’ve noticed that border on the tab appears only after beagle is uninstalled or turned off in gconf-editor. when beagle is used - everything is ok.
i dont want to use beagle, it’s a pity that the menu does not look normally without it. however i’m getting used to such look but hope someone fixes the issue by next release at least )
the first issue is unresolved in 11.2, too. the rectangle area still appears after beagle is uninstalled or the search area is deactivated in gnome configuration editor.
is it so hard to fix thas small and unpleasant bug??? any advice where i should report about it?
