questions about kde on a toshiba satellite m300d series

I have a fresh new OpenSuse 11.1 install on my laptop with kde and i LOVE it. This is by far my favorite distro i have used in a long long time.
However, i have a couple of questions.

  1. my laptop is running HOT! The fan seems to be full blast all the time and it is running extremely hot. Is this a known problem with kde 4.2 because i had this same one in kubuntu with kde 4.2
  2. when i boot up i have to type in acpi=off. How can i get suse to boot up with acpi=off every time and i dont have to type it in every time.

with these problems with the hotness (it is currently burning my leg) should i just not use KDE despite the fact that i love the interface? I am comfortable with Gnome and XFCE and i prefer KDE to both of them, but i will switch if the fan speed/running hot issue is something that needs to be fixed in a future release.

Thanks,
Trevor

If your machine is running hot despite the Fan being at Full Throttle. That is rather odd and perhaps worrying. But what about the actual CPU temp?
For eg; Mine shows 41 Celsius

right now, it says my cpu temp is 70 degrees celcius, which seems odd because it is on my lap and actually not burning me at all.
