I have 4 openSuSE ws in my house and a few windows workstations. I use one of the winxp systems as a pseudo server and have my ‘shared’ documents there. My Linux ws’ can transfer files between each other no problem, but toooooo often I loose the ability to browse, copy, save, mover or transfer to and from the xp system.
It keeps asking me for a user and password… There is not one and if there were, i’d know it and the problem would not be intermittent, Right?
If you just cancel, cancel… and go back to a local dir or Linux share, I will eventually, but not always, be able to use the windows share again… Well at least until it decides different, Again… not lol
oh, yeh, my openSuSE systems (thinkpad 10.3, ibm 11.1, amd 11.1 kde updated to 4.3.4 and dell fresh install 11.2 kde 4.3.4 the win xp is sp3.
and what do people use / recommend: ssh, sftp or fish?? also, what is the difference in ‘network folder’, between the shortcuts; ‘network’ and ‘network services’? in network, i have something that won’t connect any more and sftp and one of my openSuSE ws’ (the dell w/ fresh 11.2) can browse and be browse via samba. ??
