socref:
Happy New Year, everyone. I have a question about the processor in my
wife’s new computer. It’s an AMD Phenom II X 4 920.
The processor speed is supposed to be 2.8 Ghz (2800 Mhz). But when I
look in YaST > Hardware > Hardware Information I see the following.
core id 0, 800 Mhz
core id 1, 2800 Mhz
core id 2, 2800 Mhz
core id 3, 800 Mhz
And when I look at My Computer > CPU Information it shows the CPU speed
as 800 Mhz.
Is this indicating something wrong with two of the cores? Are they
seriously under performing the other two cores?
Thanks!

Hi
Run cpufreq-info and you can change it if you want, I’m guessing it’s
set to ondemand which is normal. Run something like prime95 or boinc
and you will see them all come up to speed.
