Question concerning use of SAMBA for printing...

I would like to know if it is possible to have a Linux client, running on openSUSE, to use SAMBA as a means of printing through a Windows 7 PC, to a network printer without the use of printer drivers being used on the client?

If this is not possible, could someone perhaps assist me in finding the correct drivers for a CS-5050 printer?

As far as I know, generic printing from Linux to Windows is not possible,
although it is possible I’m wrong. ( The converse is possible, that is generic
printing from Windows to Samba/CUPS by using a postscript driver in Windows.)

You did not identify the manufacturer of the printer, but I assume it is
Kyocera(Copystar). The Copystar CS-5050 is a postscript printer and there is
a PPD here:

http://usa.copystar.com/americas/jsp/Kyocera/download_center.jsp?pid=16095&pcat=10564&rcid=10009&rscid=10007#bottom

If that does not work, have you tried just the native postscript PPD or a PPD
for a similar model by Kyocera?

I would suggest you try setting the printer up directly in cups:
https://localhost:631/

When asked to authenticate use the username: “root” (without quotes) and the
password should be your root’s password.
