Hello guys, i want to know what is the best build for gaming with windows games like Steam Games/DotA2,
here’s my laptop spec.
Amd Turion II @2.4Ghz
4GB Ram
500gb hdd
this laptop can run the dota2 in windows 7 and i need to know if opensuse can run the dota2 and other games/applications such as nero, photoshop, final cut pro/adobe premiere etc…
Typically, the best ‘build’ for windows games would be windows itself.
In Linux, all distros depend on pretty much the same work-arounds with wine/crossover

agree, keep the games on the Games Operating System (made in Washington
state) and the important stuff (work, school, secrets, passwords, bank
transactions, paypal, emails to Aunt Tilly, etc etc etc) on the secure
operating system made by many many free software geeks around the globe…

I have read some claims that certain games work better in Linux, but you
would have to ask gamers about that - ie, in the games forum. But then
the OP ask about things that are not games…

You neglected to mention the most important spec for games running under Wine: the GPU. The fact that you can run the game in Windows does not mean it will work in Wine on that laptop: the hardware may be the same, but the graphics drivers are not. An Nvidia card with the proprietary driver will generally give the best results.

As a gamer, my personal opinion is…don’t bother. Install Windows and
be happy about it. Until game companies get their Linux act together
it’s simply not worth the effort. Yes there are some standout examples of
people currently running under Linux but overall you’ll have an order of
magnitude greater issues getting it to a stable point and keeping it there
and enough niggles to drive you batty.
