11.4 KDE
checked the updates today and installed all except opensuse 11.4 update, does this update install the full opensuse system or just some parts, I’m worried about clicking install as my internet speed is very slow and it wont complete properly, so how big is the update?

Look all updates are for good. I suggest you to install all updates. Could you send me the features of this update??
The only “official” (that is belonging to your version of openSUSE as it is released) repos are the OSS, non-OSS and Update repos. The OSS and non-OSS repos are normaly not changed during the lifetime of the release. There are exceptions to this rule and in that case I would advise you to intall them. The Update repo brings Security and Recommended updates. I strongly advise you to install at least the Security ones for obvious reasons. The Recommended ones are also worthwhile to install because thy update much needed things.
All other repos (including Packman, that almost all of us have) are added by you at your own risk. Newer versions of software that show up in them are put there by the different maintainers. It is up to you to decide if you need them and take the risk to change your otherwise stable system. This decision is to be taken for every repo. I e.g. would sooner install a newer version from Packman then from many others. Expressions like Stable, Factory, etc. might be helpfull in your decissions.

I assume that since KDE is installed, he’s referring to kupdate which I believe invokes YAST’s Online Update.

But his mention of “does this update install the full opensuse system” has
me baffled. So I want to know what he has seen.
