Question About Kernel Backports Repo URL

Hi,

I was taking a look at the following SDB page: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:InstallNewerKernel about installing newer kernels on openSUSE Leap. There, the command provided to add the kernel backports repo is the following:

zypper ar -f http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable:/Backport/standard/ KernelStableBP

As far as I understand, the URL is pointing to the “standard” folder. When I was taking a look at that repo, going back in the folder tree, I see the following:

I can see that there is a folder for Leap 15.6 and Leap 16.0. Is this “standard” like a default route to automatically detect Leap’s version or are we supposed to actually go to the 16.0 folder and add that repo?

This is what I see inside the x86_64 standard folder:

The packages have “lp156.3.1.”, which is for Leap 15.6 and not for Leap 16.0, I guess?

Thanks.

@Maschinami Yes, Leap 16.0 introduced many changes

The URL is: https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable:/Backport/16.0/
