Question about bad video in full screen mode

Hello forum members,

Yesterday i have bought myself a Acer G24 monitor - i like it a lot, sharp vibrant colors, very good pixel square-mileage… Well i’m not about to go and review my monitor here, but rather talk about problem that i’m having with it.
If i watch a dvd in full screen mode with kaffeine or vlc i get distorted picture. Not constantly, but when there are fast movements in picture just right about one quarter from top of the monitor i get flickering in horizontal direction.
I haven’t had this issue with 20" monitor.

Could it be driver not handling large monitors properly?
With normal day-to-day work i have no problems at all. Desktop effects are running flawlessly…

I run openSUSE 11.1 64bit (KDE 4.2.1 “release 103”)
my hardware:
cpu - AMD Athlon™ 64 X2
video - GeForce 8800 GTS
driver - 3.0.0 NVIDIA 180.29

Forgot to mention - when i log in into system, just before splash screen i get very distorted screen view then splash screen appears an everything is back to normal (before dvd playback that is)

did you reconfigure you xorg.conf with nvidia-settings?

Install kdebase3-kdm, and replace DISPLAYMANAGER=‘kdm4’ by DISPLAYMANAGER=‘kdm’ in the file /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager

Fixed it for me and a lot of others
