QT maximum number of clients reached

Hi,
the following error is repeating in discussions over the Internet since some years.
These discussions did not help much in my case. A new opensuse Leap 15.4 installation shows the following:

Maximum number of clients reachedqt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin “xcb” in “” even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized.

when I try to start a new program from my KDE desktop. I asked for help on QT forum, but nobody has answered yet: Maximum number of client reached | Qt Forum
Possibly somebody knows a solution here.

Btw. Do I need both QT5 and QT6 ?

Thank you for your help in advance.

When weird things happen in Plasma, log out of Plasma, login to an IceWM session or on a vtty, purge the content from ~/.cache/, then try Plasma again. Sometimes it helps. Cache is just cache, not important, just speeds some things, and is automatically regenerated after deletion when it’s actually needed.

Hi, I simply opened too much firefox cards and they accumulated from former sessions.
The problem can be assigned as solved.

Please be advised that, regardless of your location on this planet, it is good practice to set up Firefox and, other applications, to clear all the cached information such as the browsing history, at the very least, when you exit the application.
For more cautious people, you should clear the browsing history when you move from one subject being viewed to, something different. This is especially advisable when using a Web Browser to access online banking services and other comparably sensitive information …
