When I try to run yast2 (or yast) from xterm I get the ncurses frontend.
Using yast2 --qt or yast2 --gtk does not make any difference.
Hi
Have you installed yast2-qt and yast2-qt-pkg? Else look at
editing /etc/sysconfig/yast2 and changing the wanted_gui variable to qt.

I do have the yast2-qt and yast2-qt-pkg packages installed.
The configuration was modified to use qt but for no avail.
Hi
Try starting as a user then with;
xdg-su -c /sbin/yast2
