Python313-libpass not available

hi all,

I’ve been getting this error for weeks now and it’s becoming a bit annoying, really. is there anything special about python313-libpass? whilst I understand some packages lagging behind a few days, they mostly get resolved eventually. this issue has been there for too long.

any suggestions here?


the to be installed python313-Flask-Security-5.8.1-1.2.noarch requires 'python313-libpass >= 1.9.3', but this requirement cannot be provided

It is also possible that you are directed to a broken mirror which does not ship this package…

no, sorry, that’s not it. I could install the library, but I also have pgadmin4 installed, which depends on python313-passlib. python313-libpass is a fork of passlib (or the other way around) so installing one tries to get rid of the other. I can easily install this lib if I get rid of passlib, but that will break pgadmin4 :slight_smile:

Ah ok. That wasn’t clear fom the initial post.
As libpass is a fork of passlib, libpass has passlib as conflict. That is per the specfile.

sorry, I only found out in between, doing some troubleshooting myself. so is there a fix to this, other than uninstalling pgadmin4? :slight_smile:

Use a venv for the tool that requires libpass, and then install it in that venv using pip.

Don’t use pip to install system libraries - that will eventually cause system breakage. But the common solution to deal with conflicting versions of stuff in python is to use venv configurations to keep the depenencies isolated from each other.

A build issue with pgadmin4 and with python versioning, I see;

The to be installed pgadmin4-9.11-2.4.noarch requires 'python313-Flask-Security >= 5.5.0', but this requirement cannot be provided
not installable providers: python313-Flask-Security-5.8.1-1.2.noarch[download.opensuse.org-oss]

pgadmin4 needs updating…

Edit: And is unresolvable https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:Factory/pgadmin4

yeah, I thought that might be the case. I uninstalled the pgadmin4 package and I’ll be using it through venv/pip in my dev environment, but it’s an odd thing anyway.

unresolvable - is that for now or forever? :smiley:

If you follow the link “Developed at” to https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/server:database:postgresql/pgadmin4
Nothing is building, it’s also way out of date… A bug report is probably needed, or a comment on the above page (need to be logged in), or branch, update etc and submit.

right. I’m happy to help and start contributing, but can someone briefly explain how to raise this kind of issues in a way that’s helpful to maintainers/developers? I’m a data guy, not a linux expert.
