Problem: nothing provides libpython2.6.so.1.0 needed by python-numpy-1.3.0-0.pm.3.1.i586
Solution 1: keep python-numpy-1.3.0-2.2.x86_64
Solution 2: break python-numpy by ignoring some of its dependencies

Choose from above solutions by number or cancel [1/2/c] (c): c

If I try to remobe python-numpy it asks me to deinstall gedit and some other stuff that I need.

I’ve verified java, it works great but still I get that error and same with gparted.

I’ll have to look in to this later, I have to go out.

Post your repo list again

zypper lr -d

Is it possible those packages are in part provided by a repo you removed? You need to check how they are currently provided in the versions tab
Eg;
ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing

david@linux-lst5:~> zypper lr -d

| Alias | Name | Enabled | Refresh | Priority | Type | URI | Service

–±------------------------------±--------------------------±--------±--------±---------±-------±-----------------------------------------------------------------±-------

2 | download.opensuse.org-non-oss | Main Repository (NON-OSS) | Yes | Yes | 99 | yast2 | Index of /distribution/11.2/repo/non-oss |

5 | packman.inode.at-suse_1 | Packman Repository | Yes | Yes | 99 | rpm-md | Index of /suse/11.2/

Well java is in mains, that should not be a problem. Gparted, I downloaded from site and compiled it. I checked all versions and they are recent. Firefox is new 3.6 version, Java web check confirms latest version and parted is latest as well.

Use the system switcher on Mozilla
Like this EG, but on the mozzila repo

By my search this: libsigc++2
provides: libsigc-2.0.so.0

Been there, Mozilla switch hung up. I guess I should add sun java repositories by url. Let me try that and I get back.

Ok, fixed firefox by adding mozilla repo. As per your java o/p, I guess you have openjdk installed, I dont want openjdk. Trying to figure out url for adding sun repo.

Beats me, found out libsigc but unable to install, it asks for adding gnome repo. At one hand I need to maintain less repos and on other I cant get what I want. Java has no issue but zyyper verify shows a conflict. :\

Managed to resolve Java issue by switching over to suse non-oss repo.

1 issue still pending -

fixed it

david@linux-lst5:~> zypper verify

Dependencies of all installed packages are satisfied.

A lot of gnome stuff is gone and not sure whether I will be able to run Skype, there seems to be some issue with libsigc-2-32 bit.

Just so you know, for clarity. I have both kde and gnome installed. This is only a recent move for me, I’m very much kde.

Carl:

After fixing this stuff firefox, empathy, pidgin look like from windows 95 or running wine and on tops my desktop looks very much inbred. Tried, desktop configuration wizard but had no luck. Any idea on how to fix it.

Best,

David

Sounds to me like you would benefit from a re-install. You could keep /home but all this sounds not good.

I did suggest it earlier and now I’m pretty convinced thid id you best bet. It might seem daunting but it will be quicker and cleaner.

Install again then follow my multi-media guide, should only take 30mins or so, the updates will be biggie. Add a repo for video driver if needed and Mozilla would be OK. So in all:
OSS
NON-OSS
Updates
Packman

Ati/nVidia
Mozilla

Don’t do any Oneclick installs either.

Yeah that is what I will do after breaking it more. Made a new thread at Poor graphics - openSUSE Forums, lets see how far I can go with a broken install. This will amount to 30th break and build.
