One of the apps my wife quite likes is pysol, the card game. On my newly
installed OpenSuse 11.0 system, when I start pysol there’s an annoying
noise…a kind of loud hum (not it’s not the regular annoying music)
I’m using a T61 and all my other sound seems normal. Before I file a bug
report, I wanted to know if anyone else notices this too. (I don’t think
I’ll update 10.3 on her machine until I can fix it)

It’s the ‘music’ pysol’s trying to play. In the sound options, turn off
music (or volume to zero). Exit pysol, restart, no more hum.

I know that it’s SUPPOSED to be music. It’s not. And no matter how many
times you turn music off in pysol, the next time you start it the sound
comes back, too. Or in this case a raucous buzz.
I asked if anyone else was getting the noise instead of the music.
I’m trying to figure out whether it’s a problem on my machine or one that
everyone has before I put in a bug report.

Well, if you zero the music volume, then exit and restart pysol, the buzz goes
away. it’s been that way for several versions now.
Putting in a bug report is not real useful, since the author has publically
moved on to other things. As mentioned earlier, PysolFC, the fan collection
is the followup fork (well, this is more like a knife, no forking, just
continuing)

Thanks. It’s helpful to know it happens to everyone. I don’t remember a
problem with 10.3, so it’s a surprise to me.
