Hi. I though about purchasing a retail copy of opensuse the moment 11.2 is launched, but since I don’t own a credit card myself (I’m a college student) I wanted to ask if there is any store in Panamá (the centroamerican country) that carries the boxed opensuse install DVD.
Anyway, it is free to download.
So, if you don’t find any stores and if you do not have a good Internet connection, go to some Internet cafe and ask them to download it for you and burn a DVD. You may pay them the charges for that.
I do have a good internet conection. I was just wanting to have the nicer looking disc (and stickers). Plus, supporting economically the distro I use goes good I think.

hello Panama!
i’d think the easiest way for you would be to order it online by
finding someone (maybe a relative) who has a credit card and would be
willing to order it for you (and you pay the credit card holder
directly)…
well, another way to say that is: i really doubt many shops are gonna
stock the boxed package on their shelves, but i could be wrong you
might try to contact a nearby Linux User Group (LUG) via
http://www.linux.org/groups/panama.html
hey, maybe a LUG member has a credit card, and would help a student!

What about applying for a debit card? You can use it to shop online as well.

In some countries, it may be costly to keep a bank account. Without a bank account, you can not have a debit card. No sure about Panama.
I think there is a difference between the boxed opensuse and the one you can download. After downloading the free version I had some crashes during installation or during updates. Then I went back to ubuntu but I got tired of firefoc crashing. Finally I decided to buy the boxed version of opensuse. It installed and has worked flawless so far. I am not sure why. And it opened youtube videos and play music w/o need to install flash or something else. So I think it may come loaded with some proprietary software for out of box functionality. at least thats what I was looking for.
Does anyone know if codecs come loaded or you may need to install fluendo codecs by yourself. I downloaded a mp3 archive (music) that suse has not been able to open and does not find the right codecs!
Depending on your SuSE version, click a link:-

Yes. You need a bank account to get any debit card or VISA flash card. Credicorp Bank in Panama offers a VISA flash card and it works with the money amount you want to use for buying. It is practical and safer than debit card for on-line transactions.
