Pulseaudio with Jack server

Hi,

I have my 42.2 laptop either running Pulseaudio OR jack for various apps. I know I can use pulseaudio WITH jack but I cannot find a definitive guide for setting it up for 42.2 in these forums or a google search.

Can anyone tell me how to do it or point me to a good article for doing this in opensuse?

Thanks,
Chris.

Well that was a bit serendipitous. I found my answer from here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J-RQudJx30 and applied it.

For future (re)searchers -

  1. Install via yast pulseaudio-module-jack. This provides
    /usr/lib64/pulse-9.0/modules/module-jack-sink.so
    /usr/lib64/pulse-9.0/modules/module-jack-source.so

  2. Edit /etc/pulse/default.pa (make backup!)

    Load audio drivers statically

(it’s probably better to not load these drivers manually, but instead

use module-udev-detect – see below – for doing this automatically)

    #load-module module-alsa-sink
    #load-module module-alsa-source device=hw:1,0
    #load-module module-oss device="/dev/dsp" sink_name=output source_name=input
    #load-module module-oss-mmap device="/dev/dsp" sink_name=output source_name=input
    #load-module module-null-sink
    #load-module module-pipe-sink
    load-module module-jack-sink <<<<<<<<<<<<<< add
    load-module module-jack-source <<<<<<<<<<<<<< add

Automatically load driver modules depending on the hardware available

  3. Reboot.

This works like a charm on my system. Youtube and such like apps plays nicely through jack.

Case closed:) .
