Pulseaudio packages installation conflict

there are many packages of pulseaudio in suse reps, I’ve been wondering why cant I install pulseaudio from my rep, it says that I must uninstall “patterns-openSUSE-kde4_pure” first, but why? As I do not work in KDE, do I need these packages and maybe its better for me to install pulseaudio directly from rep?

Not sure what you mean by “my rep”? A good idea to mention what DE you are working with, and if you originally installed with KDE then switched to other DE?

You probably installed KDE at some point, since “patterns-openSUSE-kde4_pure” is installed as part of the pattern “KDE4 Base System”. You must uninstall the former pattern because it conflicts with the “pulseaudio” package and “patterns-openSUSE-gnome”, since pulseaudio is not installed by default on KDE. However, pulseaudio is installed by default on Gnome. You can check the dependencies/conflicts, using YaST.

You can uninstall “patterns-openSUSE-kde4_pure” as instructed, since its purpose only serves to exclude “pulseaudio” from installation, and only provides text file /usr/share/doc/packages/patterns-openSUSE/kde4_pure.txt
