Ive been trying to fix resolution for 2 hours and been searching for a majority of the time trying to find some sorta answer. Well I found the answer but all the answers I found dont give exact answers…
I need to edit the kboot.conf but when I try to do that in kwrite it tells me that i cant write it or whatever. Now idk HOW to edit it in root… I go to root terminal and type “edit /etc/kboot.conf” and I found out how to add the line I need, but idk how to save it. Idk what buttons do what, what hotkeys do what, or anything.
Ive NEVER used linux until now and its very frustrating so far until I understand it.
After this I need to figure out how to fix my network settings considering idk how to set it up. On Windows I just plug in ethernet and im good to go.
So can please someone help me out here. I already know I have to edit with root, problem is idk how to do that completely.
Well ask for terminal type su enter
It ask for root password type root password and enter
In this way you become root
Enter command cd /etc/
Than edit or kwrite kboot.conf
Change what you like to change and there is always
a save option
In WIndows and in Linux you need a driver for the eternet card sometimes it is provided in windows
version sometimes you get a CD with the driver for Windows.
If you do not install this driver it will not works in windows.
But give us the spec of you’re ethernet card specially the chip set and it might be possible to help you to install the driver

I cant change resolution with the settings so apparently I had to edit kboot.conf and add video=ps3fb:mode:133 and that didnt change anything… Im using 11.0 KDE3.5
Ok well ive reinstalled my OpenSUSE on PS3 and used Gnome instead of KDE3.5. This was because I changed the resolution to 133 and that is 1080 so when I restarted it didnt go on i kept getting no signal. So now im bout to try 480i with no full Screen to see what happens. So far I cant click computer on gnome desktop because the resolution ruins everything. Ill let ya know what happens.
Well 480i doesnt work, now it just loads to a black screen. The “no signal” isnt there, just a black screen.
I have to either reinstall it again and try 480p, or just install a different OS. So far I tried ubuntu and that was full of errors when trying to install. I tried opensuse both KDE and Gnome desktop and resolution kept messing EVERYTHING up. So I might just go to Yellow Dog since this wont be fixed and probably never will be…
