Promise Ultra66 Drivers

OpenSuse 11.1 cannot find my hard drive. I did upgrade the firmware and even tried the NetWare drivers and it could not find one of the files on the CDROM. So I assume they will not work. Last I heard NW runs on top of Linux so I thought there was a chance.

Are there drivers or a work around?

There is only one HD and attached to this controller. If there is a work around please use laymens teurns and the DVD drive is broke so I have to use the Network boot cd pulling from opensuse.org.

I don’t know if what you are booting from has all the necessary kernel modules available for hardware recognition. Assuming it does, when you boot use text mode or Escape from the splash screen to watch the hardware detection. Look for where it comes to the point at seeing the Promise controller. Is there more than one module listed? Does one have an asterisk? Does it say one is being loaded?

If I’m not mistaken, there are one of two modules for that card (which has been supported for many years). It is either pdc202xx_old or pdc202xx_new. If in the above the controller is detected and modules found and one loaded (or asterisked), then reboot and in the Boot Options add do this:

brokenmodules=<that module name>
