  • Packages browser by distribution, repository, packages group with the filtering support.
  • Detailed packages information (name, version, description, architecture, files, requires, etc.).
  • Detailed packages statistics by project, distribution, repository and packages group.
  • HTTP/FTP/RSYNC mirrors lists for the packages downloading.
  • Packages search by name, summary, description, requires, provides, files and directories.
  • URL shortcuts for the direct packages search.
  • Multilanguage interface.
  • Effective site navigation.
  • XHTML/CSS markup.

The project is still under the development.
All bugs, suggestions and comments please write to the forum.

forgive me if i miss the point of this new site, but what is the
actual benefit to openSUSE users over what is already available via

and since this new site points to non-community repos how do we know
for sure they are not distributing rootkit and other kinds of infected
files?

personally, i’d suggest this entire thread by removed from our forums
(all of our forums), until and unless “the community” wishes to check
each and EVERY package for crackerware…

You need to connect all repositories to search the packages in them.
You can only search for packages with system architecture and distribution version.

  1. Indexed most well-known repositories for openSUSE:
  • Packman
  • VLC
  • j.eng
  • nVidia drivers
  • ATI drivers
  • Adobe
  • Google
  • Google - Testing
  • JPackage - Free
  • JPackage - Free - Updates
  • JPackage - Nonfree
  • JPackage - Nonfree - Updates
    and others.
  1. Powerful packages browser by distribution, repository, packages group with the filtering support;
  2. Detailed packages information (name, version, description, architecture, files, requires, etc.);
  3. Detailed packages statistics by project, distribution, repository and packages group;
  4. HTTP/FTP/RSYNC mirrors lists for the packages downloading;
  5. Packages search by name, summary, description, requires, provides, files and directories;
  6. Multilanguage interface;
  7. RSS feeds by distribution, repository, packages group.
  8. Quick Search plugin for browsers, etc.

and since this new site points to non-community repos how do we know for sure they are not distributing rootkit and other kinds of infected
files?

These well-known repositories can distribute rootkit and other kinds of infected files with the same probability as community repos.

The project doesn’t provide any mirrors - only links for official repos.

RPM an DEB Linux packages search tool migrated to the new domain pkgs.org.
