Procedure to Upgrade from 11.4 to 12.2 with Raid 1 array

I would like to upgrade my current install from 11.4 to 12.2. I currently have a Raid1 array. I would like to drop one of the drives from the array and perform the upgrade. In the event that all does not go well I would like to be able to boot to the other drive. But if all goes well sync the array again. Does anyone have any docs or links to this type of upgrade.

Thanks

Do you have hardware RAID1 or Linux MD RAID1?

In theory it is possible, but I have not read of anybody doing it or describing it at any
length. I’d be interested in learning if it works.

Im using software raid. MD

Fake raids use software raid MD too … so it still does not answer the question.

Assuming this is really MD - the question is whether it will boot with degraded array at all. I recently hit this on RHEL (which has updates to fix it) - it failed to start MD device if not all components were present. I would first test - remove physically one disk and try to boot. If it works - I do not see how why online update (zypper dup) should not work.
