After upgrading to 11.3 from 11.2 I have the following minor but nagging problems:
The number pad does not work. The numlock key turns the numpad light on and off but the numpad does not work at all.
The right mouse click on the desktop does not work, although it does work in apps as far as I have seen. It did work once, but has not since recent reboots.
Another problem that I had in 11.2 as well, occasionally it prompts for login on boot, but most of the time it boots directly to desktop.
Yes, we always check media immediately after burning a new distro. In this case I updated using zypper dup, but it wouldn’t boot because of an error in the partition specified for booting. Then used the dvd and did an upgrade and that got it to boot.
udaman, that fixed the right mouse thing, and sure enough, the login was set to auto and passwordless. I know it was set for neither before the upgrade, so that must get changed when you upgrade.
That leaves the the numpad problem. Yes, it is set to yes in /etc/sysconfig, and the numlock light is on, but none of the numpad keys work, although the enter key there works and the other keys all work. BTW, it’s a MS natural media keyboard, though I shouldn’t think that makes a difference.
I meant to say 11.3 problems but instinctively used the keypad so it didn’t get in there. I couldn’t figure out how to edit it after it got posted. If someone knows how to, how about 11.3 upgrade problems?
OK. Looking in hardware forum I found the problem is mouse keys is turned on. Shift-numlock fixed that. But I can’t find anyplace in KDE system settings, YaST or /etc to change this setting. Anybody want to show how smart they are and tell us?
Even that woudn’t have been a very clarifying Title when you take into account that 11.3 is the most used level ATM and that this forum is especialy for those with problems. Many helpfull members here skip threads with such useless titles and go to the threads with titles that they think fell within their competence.

No, something like “numeric keyboard and mouse do not work”. And another post for the login prompt
with another telltale tittle.

In 4.5.2 it’s here: Systemsettings - Input Devices - Mouse - Mouse Navigation, check/uncheck Mouse Navigation to enable/disable Mouse Navigation, thus disable/enable use of num pad for other things ;).
