Problems with wine/steam/CSS

Hi,

i’m trying to install Counterstrike Source using wine. The initial installation using “wine setup.exe” works well, but after the installation, Steam tries to update and the progress bar never progresses above 0%. I tried to manually install steam using wine, it gets stuck too.

how can i solve this problem… ?

Could you please post your solution? I’d like to know in case I run into it when I try to install steam later this week.

Steam’s Setup file uses the “.msi” as the installer package, if you download it directly from steampowered.com the install with wine needs “wine start setup.msi” if I remember right otherwise Wine throws some weird error about the file type being unsupported.
